Common use of Horizontal Advancement Clause in Contracts

Horizontal Advancement. A member shall advance horizontally on the salary schedule by acquiring additional training. A member shall advance horizontally on the salary schedule when: Sufficient course work or a higher degree is earned. Satisfactory evidence of such completion is provided to the Board. Satisfactory evidence shall be an official transcript or a letter of course work completion issued by the appropriate institution or program. Payment on the new column will commence the first pay of the year, provided the Board has been provided satisfactory evidence on or before the first day of school (students in attendance). When satisfactory evidence is not provided on or before the first day of school, payment on the new column will commence the first pay following the September 30th, or January 31st deadline upon the Board’s receipt of satisfactory evidence and shall not be retroactive. When the evidence is other than an official transcript, the official transcript showing such additional training shall be submitted within ninety (90) days.
