Horizontal Advancement for Degree Earned. A faculty member earning a degree will advance to the appropriate degree lane (BA, MA, or DOC) at a rate of one lane per academic year. a. For faculty members with a Master’s degree, credit for horizontal advancement will only be allowed for graduate courses from a regionally accredited institution in your teaching field or closely related area, unless otherwise previous approved by the Vice President. b. For faculty members with a Bachelor’s degree, credit for horizontal advancement will only be allowed for graduate courses from a regionally accredited institution towards a Master’s degree in your teaching field or closely related area, unless otherwise previous approved by the Vice President. c. For faculty members with an Associate’s degree, credit for horizontal advancement will only be allowed for undergraduate courses from a regionally accredited institution towards a bachelor’s degree in your teaching field or closely related area, unless otherwise previous approved by the Vice President.

By signing this agreement, I agree to reimburse Spoon River College for any penalties up to $5,000 that may be incurred due to the State University Retirement System (SURS) 6% Rule, if I should voluntarily terminate my employment within five years of this agreement. I understand that penalties imposed upon Spoon River College would not occur until such time as my application for retirement is submitted.
