Common use of Illness in Immediate Family Clause in Contracts

Illness in Immediate Family. Absence without loss of pay shall be allowed for illness in immediate family (spouse, child, parent, grandparent, stepchild, stepparent or parent-in-law) if they live in the same household or are a person whose relationship to the employee warrants such attendance. Approval from the immediate supervisor is required. A maximum of five (5) days per contract year will be allowed. FMLA eligible employees may also use available sick days during FMLA qualifying family illness. Exceptions may be granted by the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. The employee will indicate "Family illness" on the time sheet for use of sick leave for this purpose.
