Common use of Illness-In-Line Clause in Contracts

Illness-In-Line. OF-DUTY LEAVE Any teacher shall be entitled to illness-in-line-of-duty leave when he/she has to be absent from duties because of a personal injury received in the discharge of duty or because of diagnosed illness from any contagious or infectious disease contracted in school through which direct contact has been substantiated. Leave shall be authorized for a total not to exceed ten (10) days per year. However, in the case of sickness or injury occurring under such circumstances as in the opinion of the School Board warrants it, additional emergency sick leave may be granted out of local funds for such term and under such conditions as the School Board shall deem proper. Use of such leave shall result in no reduction of the teacher's accumulated sick leave, and shall be with full pay. The Board shall also provide Worker's Compensation insurance for all teachers for properly reported injuries received in the discharge of their duties. (11/06/07)
