Importer Security Filing (ISF). Importer Security Filing is a US Customs requirement that requires specific information to be filed with US Customs on all ocean shipments exported to the US. This information must be filed to US Customs no later than twenty-four (24) hours before ocean container departure from port of origin. Details are available at xxxx://xxx.xxx.xxx/border-security/ports-entry/cargo-security/importer-security-filing-102. As stated above, ISF is only applicable to “ocean shipments” exported to the US. Fortinet ISF Process Fortinet designated Freight Forwarders gives suppliers an ISF data sheet for data gathering. The process is as follows:  Supplier fills out the sheet and provides it to the freight forwarder at least seventy-two (72) hours before the shipment leaves the port of export on the designated vessel. If there is no Fortinet freight forwarder involved, the supplier is to complete and send all data to Fortinet Customs Broker and Fortinet GTC Team (Import Manager) no later than seventy-two (72) hours prior to vessel departure. Fortinet Customs  The freight forwarder checks to confirm all supplier data is complete, adds its own information and then sends the data sheet to Fortinet customs broker no later than seventy- two (72) hours before the shipment departs from origin. The purpose is that the supplier provides the data sheet to the forwarder and they fill out their part and send it to the broker. This should all happen on the same day within the seventy-two (72) hours time period.  The customs broker confirms the data sheet is complete and then files it with US Customs at least twenty-four (24) hours before container departure.
