In-school Assignment. In order to meet the needs of the educational program, a principal may assign or reassign a teacher to any grade or subject within the building for which the teacher is certified. Prior to advertising a position outside the building, the principal or District supervisor will post notification of the vacancy for five (5) days within the building via email. If the position is considered a District position, the affected District staff will be notified by the District supervisor via email. Staff interested in the vacancy must notify the principal/supervisor in writing or via email of interest in the position prior to the expiration of the five (5) day period. The principal/supervisor, at his or her discretion, may fill the position with any staff member within the building or affected District program, or may authorize the position posted within and/or outside the District as prescribed by District procedures. A teacher who has been reassigned within a school building may appeal the reassignment to the Superintendent or designee within two (2) days of receipt of written notification by the principal of reassignment. If positions become available between the last teacher work day of the current school year and the first teacher work day of the next year, the positions will be posted simultaneously for both internal and external candidates.
