If a MacBook is damaged, it must be turned in to the Houston Academy Technology Department where a claim will be filed under the insurance policy or repairs facilitated by the Technology Department.

Indemnity of School for Loss or Damage. All repairs and replacements must be handled by the Technology Department of Oakhill Day School. If the Equipment is damaged, it must be turned in to the Oakhill Day School Technology Department where a claim will be filed under AppleCare or repairs facilitated by the Technology Department. Full AppleCare+ documentation can be found here: xxxxx://xxx.xxxxx.xxx/legal/sales-support/applecare/education/applecareplusus.html Fees for repairs and/or replacements will be based on the current AppleCare+ fee schedule. Xxxx to replace keyboards will be based on the current cost to replace keyboards. *Fees do not include applicable taxes payable by you. *Keyboards are not covered under the AppleCare+ warranty and, if damaged, the replacement cost will be added to the family account.
Indemnity of School for Loss or Damage. Student Owned Device (Chromebooks) If a student owned device is damaged, the student will be responsible for the cost of repairs or replacement of the device. Do not try and repair the device on your own. They come with a 1 year warranty that will be void if you try and repair the device yourself. If a replacement is needed, the replacement must be purchased from the ABS IT Department. If a student device is lost, the student is responsible for the cost of the replacement. The replacement must be purchased by the ABS IT Department and the school monitoring software will be applied to the device as long as the student is enrolled at ABS.

Cracked screens fall into two categories. AppleCare+ support and non-AppleCare+ support. If a cracked iPad/MacBook is under AppleCare+ warranty students are required to pay a minimum of $69 for repair. If it is not under warranty then students will be required to pay a minimum $250 fee for repair. All device support and service must be submitted through the School. Repairs completed through an external resource will be considered in violation of the Acceptable Use Policy and will void the warranty. Insurance: Included in the cost of the Equipment, is AppleCare+ (see Apple iPad/MacBook Air Insurance Agreement). All device support and service must be submitted through the School.
