Industrial First Aid Requirements and Courses. Where the Employer has a contract with a customer that requires the Employer to provide an employee with a First Aid Certificate, such employee will receive a premium of seventy-five percent (75%) of the amount specified in the contract between the Employer and the customer for that certificate: (a) The Union and the Employer agree that First Aid Regulations made pursuant to the Workers' Compensation Act shall be fully complied with. (b) Where the Employer requires an employee, or where the employees are currently performing first aid duties in addition to the normal requirements of the job, the cost of obtaining and renewing the Industrial First Aid Certificate shall be borne by the Employer, and leave to take the necessary courses shall be granted with pay. (c) Employees required to possess an Industrial First Aid Certificate and who are designated to act as the First Aid Attendant in addition to their normal job responsibilities shall receive the following allowance on the basis of the Class of certificate which they hold. -- Industrial First Aid Certificate, Class A - $.50 per hour; -- Industrial First Aid Certificate, Class B - $.40 per hour; -- Industrial First Aid Certificate, Class C - $.30 per hour. (1) In order to meet the requirements of Clause 21.7(a) above, the Employer will designate in order of seniority from among those employees holding an appropriate Industrial First Aid Certificate to act as the First Aid Attendant in addition to the normal requirements of the job. (2) Where no employee within the work group possesses an Industrial First Aid Certificate, the opportunity to obtain a Certificate will be offered to employees within the work group in order of service seniority, provided the employee can meet the requirements of the WCB regulations to undertake the training in order to obtain an Industrial First Aid Certificate. (3) In the event that the procedures outlined above do not meet the requirements of Clause 21.7(a), the Union will assist the Employer to meet their obligations by approaching employees in the work group on behalf of the Employer. (4) Failing Clause 21.7(d)(3) above, the Employer may require the most senior employee within the work group who can meet the requirements of the WCB regulations to undertake Industrial First Aid training in order to obtain a Certificate.

For the following purpose of calculating the hourly rate, the biweekly allowance on shall be divided by seventy-five (75); however, no employee shall receive more than the basis of monthly allowance for the Class class of certificate which they hold. -- Industrial Employees designated to act as the Occupational Level 2 First Aid Certificate, Class A - $.50 per hour; -- Industrial Attendant in addition to their normal job duties will receive their full monthly allowance while on approved leave with pay of up to ten (10) days or while on vacation leave with pay. Where the Employer has an additional requirement for a First Aid CertificateAttendant on a temporary basis, Class B - $.40 per hour; -- Industrial then provided the employee acts as the First Aid CertificateAttendant for a minimum of ten (10) workdays in any month, Class C - $.30 per hourhe/she shall receive the full monthly allowance. (1) In order to meet the requirements of Clause 21.7(a(a) above, the Employer will designate in order of seniority from among those regular employees holding an appropriate Industrial First Aid Certificate to act as the First Aid Attendant in addition to the normal requirements of the job. (2) Where no employee within the work group unit possesses an Industrial Occupational Level 2 First Aid Certificate, the opportunity to obtain a Certificate certificate will be offered to regular employees within the work group unit in order of service seniority, provided the employee can meet the requirements of the WCB regulations to undertake the training in order to obtain an Industrial Occupational Level 2 First Aid Certificate. (3) In the event that the procedures outlined above do not meet the requirements of Clause 21.7(a(a), the Union will assist the Employer to meet their obligations by approaching regular employees in the work group unit on behalf of the Employer. (4) Where (d) (1), (2) and (3) do not meet, within a reasonable period of time, the requirements of the Employer to achieve (a) above, the Employer may: (i) recall a qualified casual employee in order of seniority from those holding the appropriate Occupational Level 2 First Aid Certificate, and/or (ii) include an Occupational Level 2 First Aid Certificate as a desirable qualification on a posting pursuant to Article 12.8(b). (5) Failing Clause 21.7(d)(3(4) above, the Employer may require the most senior regular employee within the work group unit who can meet the requirements of the WCB regulations to undertake Industrial Occupational Level 2 First Aid training in order to obtain a Certificatecertificate.

(2) Where no employee within the work group unit possesses an Industrial First Aid Certificate, the opportunity to obtain a Certificate certificate will be offered first to employees within the engaged in work group of a continuous nature and then to employees engaged in work which is not of a continuous nature in order of service seniority, provided the employee can meet the requirements of the WCB regulations to undertake the training in order to obtain an Industrial First Aid Certificate. (3) In the event that the procedures outlined above do not meet the requirements of Clause 21.7(a(a), the Union will assist the Employer to meet their obligations by approaching employees engaged in work of a continuous nature in the work group unit on behalf of the Employer. (4) Failing Clause 21.7(d)(3Clauses 22.8(b)(1), (2) and (3) above, the Employer may require the most senior an employee within the work group unit who can meet the requirements of the WCB regulations to undertake Industrial First Aid training in order to obtain a certificate. (5) Where the provisions of this article do not meet, within a reasonable period of time, the requirements of the Employer to achieve Clause 22.8(a) above, the Employer may: (i) recall a qualified part-time employee in order of seniority from those holding the appropriate Industrial First Aid Certificate, and/or (ii) hire a new employee with the required qualifications.
