Scope and Definitions 1. The provisions of this Chapter shall apply to standards, technical regulations, and conformity assessment procedures as defined in the WTO TBT Agreement in so far as they affect trade covered by this Agreement.
2. For the purposes of this Chapter, the definitions used by the WTO TBT Agreement shall apply.

Appendix A also contains usage rules that apply to this Agreement. Appendix A is incorporated by reference into this Agreement.
