Language Development. Oranga Tamariki acknowledges they play a role in promoting and supporting the knowledge and use of New Zealand’s official languages: Te Reo Māori and New Zealand Sign Language as well as English and the Pacific Island languages. Oranga Tamariki is committed to lifting the level of cultural competence across the organisation. It is a professional requirement of all roles that they have the language and cultural skills required to do their role. We also acknowledge that individuals may choose to increase their language and cultural capacity beyond what is required for their role and that languages are cultural taonga. Employees may seek approval, as part of their development planning conversations, to access time, and/or funding, to develop their language and cultural competency.

  • Curriculum Development This includes the analysis and coordination of textual materials; constant review of current literature in the field, some of which are selected for the college library collection, the preparation of selective, descriptive materials such as outlines and syllabi; conferring with other faculty and administration on curricular problems; and, the attendance and participation in inter and intra-college conferences and advisory committees.

  • Employee Development The Employer may provide employees the opportunity to participate in appropriate seminars, workshops or short courses.
