Common use of Lay-Offs & Recall Clause in Contracts

Lay-Offs & Recall. (a) Although the Board does not desire to reduce the work force or hours of work, it is recognized that circumstances may require such action. Prior to any lay-offs or reduction in hours of work of regular employees exceeding thirty percent (30%) in any classification, the Board will consult with the Union through a Labour Management Liaison Meeting. Consultation may include discussion of options other than lay-offs or reduction in hours of work.
