Leave Authorization. Absence from work with full pay and benefits, or with no pay and no benefits, is authorized under various conditions outlined below. Except in the case of a bona fide emergency, advance approval from the Chief of Police or his/her designee is required. If the Chief of Police or his/her designee is not contacted during the first hour of a regular work schedule, an employee may be considered as on an unauthorized absence and carried in a non-pay status. If an employee fails to return to work upon the expiration of an authorized leave of absence, such action will be considered a resignation and all rights and benefits are terminated unless the employee has an excuse acceptable to the University. Authorized Days Off: Sick, Vacation, Personal, and Comp days will be based on scheduled days off.
