Common use of Leave, Bereavement and Compassionate Clause in Contracts

Leave, Bereavement and Compassionate. A member will be granted reasonable leave of absence for urgent personal reasons such as bereavement, serious family illness, etc. Permission should be obtained from the department head prior to taking such leave so that arrangements can be made to carry on the member’s duties during the absence. Upon receipt of written application for the leave, the department head, taking the particular circumstances of the situation into consideration, will authorize the leave with or without pay and benefits. Leaves will not be unreasonably denied.
