Bereavement Leave A full-time or regular part-time nurse who notifies the Hospital as soon as possible following a bereavement shall be granted three (3) consecutive working days off without loss of regular pay for scheduled hours, in conjunction with the day of the funeral of a member of her or his immediate family. means parent, sister, spouse, son, daughter, son-in- law, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent or grandchild. for the purposes of bereavement leave will include a partner of the same sex. On confirmation by the Employment Insurance Commission of the appropriatenessof the Employer’sSupplemental EmploymentBenefit (SUB) Plan, a nurse who is on maternity leave as provided under this Agreement who is in receipt of Employment Insurance pregnancy benefits pursuant to Section of the Unemployment Insurance Act, shall be paid a supplemental employment benefit. That benefit will be equivalent to the difference between of her or his intention to return to work at least regular weekly earnings and the sum of her weekly Employment Insurance benefits and any other earnings. Such payment shall commence following completion of the two (2) weeks week Employment Insurance waiting period and receipt by the Health Unit of the Employment Insurancecheque stub as proof that the employee is in receipt of Employment Insurance pregnancy benefits, and shall continue while the nurse is in receipt of such benefits for a maximum period of weeks. The nurse’s regular weekly earnings shall be determined by multiplying her regular hourly rate on her last day worked prior to the date commencement of such returnthe leave times her normal weekly hours. The normal weekly hours for a part- time employee shall be calculated by using the same time period used for calculation of the Employment Insurance benefit (currently weeks).
