Common use of Leave for Self-Improvement Clause in Contracts

Leave for Self-Improvement. (a) An employee who seeks leave of absence to effect self-improvement in his professional competence will be granted that leave, if the departmental schedule permits. The employee will be regarded as in continuous service during the period of that leave. Where possible, within budgetary limitations, the employee may continue at up to half salary for the period of leave. Seniority and benefits will continue without loss.

Leave for Self-Improvement. (a) An employee who seeks leave of absence to effect achieve self-improvement in his his/her professional competence will be granted that leave, if the departmental department schedule permits. The employee will be regarded as in continuous service during the period of that leave. Where possible, within budgetary limitations, the employee may continue at with up to half 50% of his/her annual salary for the period of leave. Seniority and benefits will continue without loss, but no additional vacation entitlement shall be earned during the period of leave. The period of such leave of absence shall be included as part of the twelve (12) months continuous service requirement for an increment.
