Leave To Care For A Child, Parent, Spouse, Or Domestic Partner. In any school year unit members may use up to a maximum of ten days of leave, that is credited under Section 16.1, to attend to an illness of the unit member’s child, parent, spouse, or domestic partner for each event. As used in this section, “child” means a biological, xxxxxx, or adopted child, a stepchild, a legal xxxx, a child of a domestic partner, or a child of a person standing in loco parentis. This section does not extend the maximum period of leave to which a unit member is entitled under the Family And Medical Leave Act (29 U.S.C. Section 2606, et. seq.), the California Family Rights Act (Government Code Section 12945.2), and District policies implementing these Acts regardless of whether the unit member receives sick leave compensation during that leave.
