Leave Under the Family Leave Act. a. Leave to provide care as the result of the birth or adoption of a child or a serious health condition of a family member (as defined in the Act) or the employee is available to eligible employees pursuant to the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act and the New Jersey Family Leave Act, N.J.S.A. 34:11B-1, et seq. Any such leave shall be in accordance with all statutory requirements and procedures. b. Pursuant to the Act, eligible employees are entitled to take up to a maximum of twelve (12) weeks of leave in a 12 month period. The 12 month period commences with the beginning of the leave. c. Pursuant to the requirements of the Act, the Board will maintain in effect, for up to the maximum 12 week duration of leave under the Act, the employee’s health insurance coverage as if the employee had continued in active employment. d. Employees desiring family leave must submit a leave request indicating the starting and ending dates of the leave.
