Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave. In the case of the death of the wife, husband, child, or (step) child of a regular full time employee, or of the employee’s (or spouse’s) (step) father, (step) mother, (step) brother, (step) sister, (step) grandparent, (step) grandchild, or legal dependent, the employee shall be granted permission to be absent from duty for as many days, not to exceed five, during the individual employee’s
Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave. Classified personnel may be granted two (2) days of Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave with pay in the event of the death of the employee’s spouse, parent, step parent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, child, step child, legally adopted child, biological/adoptive parent of child, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather, or grandchild. After the two (2) days, the employee will be allowed to use accumulated sick leave, personal leave with pay, or personal leave without pay contingent upon approval of immediate supervisor when it is determined the needs of the school can be met. Classified personnel will be allowed to use accumulated sick leave, personal leave with pay, or personal leave without pay, as approved by the immediate supervisor, in the event of the death of the employee’s xxxxxx parent, xxxxxx child, step brother, aunt, uncle, step sister, current spouse’s step parent, current spouse’s xxxxxx parent, current spouse’s grandparent, sister-in-law, brother-in-law.
Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave. Should there be a death in the teacher's immediate family, the teacher shall be entitled to be absent without loss of pay for up to five (5) consecutive school days within seven (7) calendar days. In computing this allowable absence, the calendar day which immediately follows the death, rather than the date on which the death occurs, shall be counted as the first day. In the event that a teacher is the executor or administrator of an estate, then that teacher shall not have to use the five (5) school days on a consecutive basis or within seven (7) calendar days but shall have one (1) year from the date of death to exercise this leave.
Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave. 1. In the case of death in the immediate family of a regularly employed teacher, the teacher is entitled to be absent without loss of compensation. The number of days provided shall be five (5) days within a seven (7) calendar day period beginning with the day of death or the day following such death at the employee's option. Scheduled vacation days shall not extend bereavement leave. The purpose of such leave is for attendance at last rites and attending to other personal matters of the immediate family, provided, however, that said teacher is performing duties as assigned by the Board under a valid teachers’ contract.
2. This provision shall not be construed to mean five (5) consecutive calendar days for each member of the immediate family if two (2) or more deaths arise immediately out of the same occurrence. If more than one (1) death in the immediate family should occur, five (5) full consecutive calendar days shall be granted for each, limited only by the immediate death provision specified above.
3. In the case of death of other family members and/or close friends, the teacher is entitled to be absent without loss of compensation for one (1) day, limited, however, to a total of only two (2) days for such use in any one (1) year.
Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave. Xxxxxxxxxxx leave shall be given to the teacher for death in the immediate family, including grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, father, mother, wife, husband, sister, brother, son, daughter, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law or daughter-in-law. Bereavement leave shall be for a period extending not more than five (5) working days beyond such death, to be used within a fourteen (14) day period. The Superintendent may address extenuating circumstances not specifically covered in the language to allow leave to extend beyond the fourteen (14) day limit. Xxxxxxxxxxx leave shall be given to the teacher for death of an aunt, uncle, niece, nephew and cousin for a period extending not more than three (3) working days beyond such death. One (1) additional working day may be granted if approved by the Superintendent. In cases of denial, the Superintendent must show reasonable justification.
Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave. Up to three (3) days non-cumulative bereavement leave days will be granted to each certificated staff member under the following conditions:
1. If the leave is for bereavement other than in the immediate family, it will be granted upon prior approval of the superintendent or his/her designated authority with no deduction in salary. Immediate family is defined as the employee’s spouse, father, mother, parents of spouse, grandparents, grandparents of spouse, children, brother, sister, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, or any relative residing in the employee’s household, significant other, or any person with whom the staff member has had a close relationship for several years.
2. These three (3) days bereavement leave will not be charged against the twelve (12) days sick leave.

Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave. In the event of a death of a member of the immediate family, an employee shall be granted up to (2) two days of paid leave upon request. Bereavement leave is of a special nature and may not be deferred or converted to any other purpose. It is not charged against any other leave account. It is not transferrable or accruable and must be used within 30 calendar days of the death. Application shall be made to the Superintendent and granted by the Superintendent or his/her designee, in advance whenever possible. The employee will not be paid bereavement leave for days not scheduled to work. In order to honor a request for bereavement leave, employees are required to attach a copy of the obituary or other satisfactory document to the leave request form and details about the relationship may be required by the Superintendent. Immediate family shall be defined as: Employee’s spouse, grandparent, parent, brother, sister, child, grandchild, or the grandparent, parent, brother, sister, child, grandchild, of the employee’s spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is the current legal guardian.
Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave. Employees who have an appointment between 50% and 100% shall be entitled to the bereavement leave benefit described in this Section. The number of hours of pay for a day of paid bereavement leave is dependent upon the employee’s appointment at or above 50%; the benefit is 8.0 hours paid bereavement leave per day for an employee with an appointment of 100%, with the hours prorated for eligible employees between 50% and 100%.
Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave. In the event of death in the family of an ESP, the ESP may use accumulated paid leave balances for a maximum of eight (8) days (which may include necessary travel time), excluding weekends. Additional days may be granted at the discretion of the Superintendent or his/her designee.
Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave. In the case of death of persons defined below, an employee may receive leave for bereavement without loss of pay. If the funeral does not immediately follow the death, bereavement leave may be granted to coincide with the day of death and the funeral. This provision does not affect the total number of days which may be granted for bereavement leave. For purposes of this Agreement, the bereavement period will begin the day of death and run five (5) duty days for the death of a parent, xxxxxx parent, parent-in-law, child, step-child, step-parent, spouse, domestic partner, sibling, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, or any member of the immediate household and three (3) duty days for the death of an employee's grandchild, grandparent, grandparent-in-law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law. The Superintendent/Designee may grant bereavement leave for other relatives provided that the request is made in writing prior to the requested leave.
