Common use of Local Professional Development Committee Clause in Contracts

Local Professional Development Committee. In accordance with Senate Bill 230, there shall be a Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC) established in the Western Local School District in accordance with the following provisions: 1. The purpose of the committee shall be to oversee, review, and approve professional development plans for course work, continuing education units, or other equivalent activities for the renewal of professional certificates or license renewal of all certified employees of the District, and any other activity established by law for LPDCs. 2. The committee shall be composed of members: three (3) teachers and two (2) administrators. Terms shall be for two (2) years each, except that initial selection of two (2) teachers and one (1) administrator shall be for three (3) year terms. 3. Teacher members shall be selected by the WEA. 4. Administrator members shall be selected by the Superintendent. 5. The LPDC shall meet on a regular basis, as needed, and shall adopt its own regulations for such meetings. 6. Committee members may be reappointed for successive terms, without limitation. 7. The LPDC shall be charged with the obligation to be operational for renewal of licenses effective September 1, 1998. The committee shall operate under the rules and regulations of Senate Bill 230, relevant adopted rules and regulations of the State Department of Education. The committee shall establish a procedure by which a teacher may appeal the decision of the LPDC. 8. If any LPDC member is unable to complete his or her term of office, the Superintendent shall appoint an administrative person to fill any administrative vacancies, and the Association shall select any bargaining unit member replacements for the remainder of the unexpired term. The leaders of the LPDC and SLO Committees shall receive $35 per hour and the members of the committees shall receive $25 per hour. Monthly meetings will be held for each group.

If any additional legislation is passed that conflicts with this article, this article shall be modified to comply with Ohio Revised Code by joint approval of the Board and SLO Committees Association. 10. For time spent outside the teacher work day, the teacher members of the Committee shall receive $35 35.00 per hour and up to a maximum of $1,500.00 each. For time spent outside the teacher work day, teacher members of the committees Appeals Board shall receive $25 35.00 per hour. Monthly meetings will be held hour to a maximum of $1,500.00 per year for each grouptheir work performed outside the school day.

A. The LPDC shall consist of professional certificates or license renewal of all certified employees of four (4) classroom teachers employed by the District, and any other activity established one (1) Principal employed by law for LPDCs. 2. The committee shall be composed of members: three (3) teachers and two (2) administrators. Terms shall be for two (2) years eachthe District, except that initial selection of two (2) teachers and one (1) administrator shall be for three (3) year termsother employee of the District approved by the Superintendent. 3. Teacher B. The composition of the Committee will consist of a majority of administrators and one (1) certificated/licensed staff member when considering the development plan of a Building Principal, Assistant Principal, or other administrator. 15.04 The teacher members shall be selected by the WEAREA President. 4. Administrator members 15.05 The term of office of each member of the LPDC shall be selected determined by the LPDC. 15.06 Vacancies of teachers shall be filled by the Association. Appointment of non-teacher vacancies shall be filled by the Board. All vacancies shall be filled for the remainder of the term. 15.07 The initial meeting of the LPDC shall be called by a member designated by the Superintendent. 5.
