Common use of Lodge Delegates Clause in Contracts

Lodge Delegates. Duly elected or selected delegates or alternates to the State or National Conferences of the Fraternal Order of Police who are in the bargaining unit shall be allowed one day in paid status and reasonable time off duty without pay to attend such functions provided that the Lodge President (or designee) submits written notification to the Chief of Police at least fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the date of the function. To the extent any such time off without pay is during a delegate's scheduled working hours, time off may be charged to vacation or compensatory time, at the option of the bargaining unit member. In addition, with the approval of the Chief of Police or designee, member/delegates may have the option of changing their regularly scheduled days off to avoid the use of vacation or compensatory time off for attendance at FOP Conferences. The request must be submitted by the bargaining unit member in writing not less than two (2) weeks prior to the week for which the leave is requested.
