Common use of Meal Times Clause in Contracts

Meal Times. (1) Employees shall be granted an unpaid morning tea break of thirty (30) minutes at a time nominated by the Employer but no later than five (5) hours after commencing work. Employees shall be granted a further unpaid break of thirty (30) minutes at a time nominated by the Employer. The Employer will consult with the relevant department when deciding the meal breaks. (2) Meal breaks shall not be counted as part of the daily hours worked. (3) If an interruption of work for any cause occurs within 1 hour of the scheduled commencement of meal or morning tea break, the Employer may direct that the break be taken immediately.
