Meaning of Personal/Carer’s Leave. Personal/carer’s leave is either: (a) paid leave (sick leave) taken by an employee because of a personal illness, or injury, of the employee; or (b) paid or unpaid leave (xxxxx’s leave) taken by an employee to provide care or support to a member of the employee’s immediate family, or a member of the employee’s household, who requires care or support because of: (i) a personal illness, or injury, of the member; or (ii) an unexpected emergency affecting the member. (c) immediate family or member of the employees household is defined as: (i) a spouse of the employee; or (ii) a de facto spouse, who, in relation to a person, is a person of the same or opposite sex to the first mentioned person who lives with the first mentioned person on a bona fide domestic basis although not legally married to that person; or
