Paid Personal Leave. A. During the first full pay period in each January, persons employed as of September 1, 2011 will be credited annually with paid personal leave credits at the following rate (including such employees laid off and subsequently recalled): Scheduled Hours per Week Personal Leave Credits 37.5 hours per week 37.500 hours 40.0 hours per week 40.000 hours B. During the first full pay period in each January, full-time employees hired after September 1, 2011 will be credited annually with paid personal leave credits at the following rate: Scheduled Hours per Week Personal Leave Credits 37.5 hours per week 22.500 hours 40.0 hours per week 24.000 hours Such personal leave may be taken during the following twelve (12) months at a time or times requested by the employee and approved by his/her Appointing Authority. Nothing in this section shall be construed as giving more than three (3) personal days (to employees hired after September 1, 2011) in a given year, or more than five (5) personal days (to employees on the payroll as of September 1, 2011) in a given year. Paid Personal Leave. 1. Six days sick leave each year may be utilized for personal reasons. These days may be requested "no reason given". Paid personal leave days are not cumulative as such, but only as sick leave days. 2. Except in an emergency, the request for Paid Personal Leave must be submitted to the worksite administrator three work days prior to the beginning date of the leave. In the event that more than 10% of the bargaining unit members assigned to a worksite request personal leave on a given day, the principal may deny leave to those employees exceeding the 10% figure on a “last applied – first denied” basis. No requests for paid personal leave of more than three (3) consecutive days shall be granted unless the request for such leave is submitted at least twenty (20) work days prior to the beginning date of the leave and includes the reasons for the leave. Paid Personal Leave may not be taken to work for another employer, unless approved by the Superintendent as being in the best interest of the school district. 3. Except for specific prior approval by the principal, none of the six paid personal leave days may be used during pre- or post-planning periods, or the day before or the day after a School Board approved holiday. 4. Paid Personal Leave shall not be used during the week prior to the FCAT reading, math, and science being administered, or on any day in which the FCAT, including FCAT writing, is being administered, excluding make up days, without the specific approval of the principal. 5. Except for specific prior approval by the principal, the use of personal leave shall not be permitted on the professional development day.
Paid Personal Leave. 5.13.1 Each employee shall be entitled to one (1) day of personal leave that will be charged to his/her sick leave earned during summer employment; however, the total sick leave and personal leave hours/days used during summer employment cannot exceed the number of sick days earned during summer employment. 5.13.1.1 No employee may utilize more than six (6) personal leave days in a fiscal year.

Paid Personal Leave. (PPL) (a) Such leave is to provide emergency time off without loss of pay for extraordinary or unanticipated circumstances which may arise from time to time in employee’s personal life. As soon as is reasonably possible the employee and supervisor shall review the employee’s request that the time be recorded as paid personal leave. For clarity, some examples of paid personal leave for extraordinary or unanticipated circumstances would include but not be limited to: ▪ emergency medical requirements for immediate family. ▪ emergency child or eldercare arrangements. 01. ▪ an emergency situation at home. This may include fire, flood, burst water heaters/pipes, broken furnace during winter months, gas leaks. ▪ attendance at a funeral for a person who is not specifically covered by the provisions in this collective agreement. ▪ to extend a period of bereavement leave beyond the three or five days provided for in the collective agreement. (b) In addition, paid personal leave shall be available to observe obligatory religious holy days. For such requests it is expected that the employee will provide written notice in advance of the day(s) to be observed.
