Non-Renewal of Contract. If a faculty member is not to be continued during the probationary period, notification in writing will be given by March 1 during the first year of service, by December 15 of the second year of service, and, thereafter, at least one year prior to termination. All deadlines hereunder shall be met when such written notification is hand delivered or mailed to the faculty member on or before the deadline as follows: 1. Hand delivery hereunder is complete when the written notification is signed and dated by the faculty member or a third party witness and is deemed received by the faculty member on the date of delivery. 2. Mail delivery hereunder is complete when the written notification is sent both certified mail and first class, postage prepaid, to the faculty member’s last known address and is deemed received by the faculty member on the earlier of the date the faculty member signs for the delivery or the date of the first delivery attempt.
