Common use of Nonpaid Leaves/Optional Clause in Contracts

Nonpaid Leaves/Optional. The granting of nonpaid leaves is optional with the District and will be done only with approval of the District. Such leaves shall be granted for specified periods not to exceed six (6) months for any of the following reasons: maternity leave; educational leave; military, Peace Corp or Public Health Service leave; or nonpaid sick leave. Nonpaid leave may also be granted as an extension to paid vacations or for personal business of an employee when such is determined to be warranted and approved by the District. Leaves of longer than six (6) months must receive prior approval by the Board of Health.
