Notification Process. If the need for Short Term Family Leave is foreseeable, the bargaining unit employee must give reasonable prior written notice (generally seven (7) days). Bargaining unit employees may give less than seven (7) days’ notice only in the case of an emergency. It is considered an emergency if waiting seven (7) days could have a significant adverse impact on the bargaining unit employee’s family member. Bargaining unit employees are required to take at least two (2) hours of leave at any one time.
