NURSE ORIENTATION. 30 The Hospital agrees to provide a new-employee orientation to all newly-hired 32 limited to, the following: 33 1. To familiarize new nurses with the objectives and philosophy of the 34 Hospital. 35 2. To familiarize new nurses with nursing services provided by the Hospital. 2 3. To orient new nurses to the nurse’s job description and responsibilities at 3 the Hospital. 5 4. To orient new nurses to Hospital policies and procedures. 7 The orientation shall be based upon the experience, qualifications and expressed 8 needs of the nurse and shall be concluded before the nurse is counted in the staffing 9 complement of the unit. The nurse will meet with the preceptor and nurse manager on a 10 weekly basis during orientation. The decision to take a nurse off of orientation will be 11 made by consensus of the nurse, preceptor and nurse manager. In the event that there 12 are unresolved issues during the orientation period or a consensus cannot be reached 13 to end orientation, the issue(s) and/or case will be reviewed by the Chief Nurse 14 Executive, who will have the final decision-making authority.
