Common use of Objective of the Probationary Period Clause in Contracts

Objective of the Probationary Period. The probationary period shall be regarded as part of the selection process and shall be utilized for closely observing the employee’s work, for securing the most effective adjustment of a new employee to his/her position, and for releasing any probationary employee whose performance in the opinion of the City Manager, City Manager’s designee, and/or appointing authority does not meet the required standards of work. Nothing in this policy is intended to limit the reasons for which an employee may be released during the probationary period. Release of an employee during the probationary period may be with or without cause and with or without prior notice to the employee.
