Common use of Observances Clause in Contracts

Observances. Employees may attend the on-campus celebrations and/or commemoration(s) including but not limited to: National Day of Mourning Remembrance Day International Women’s Day National Aboriginal Day Montreal Massacre Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women International Workers’ Day Quebec City Mosque Shooting Memorial (January 29th) Black Lives Matter LGBTQ2S+ Pride or Remembrance Residential School Remembrance With the approval of the Supervisor(s), an employee may arrange to exchange their duties, or for their substitution, with or by a qualified person, in order to attend the on-campus commemoration(s). In most instances the date of the celebrations and/or commemoration(s) are known to employees well in advance, therefore the employee must notify their Supervisor as early as possible before the celebrations about their intent to observe the celebration. In the event that no celebration or commemoration is held on-campus, employees may observe a minute of silence on the days listed above. Requests will not be unreasonably denied.
