On-Call Frequency Sample Clauses

On-Call Frequency. (a) In-house call is defined as those duty hours beyond the normal work day when residents are required to be immediately available. Intermediate and Final Year House Officers must not be scheduled to be for in-house call more often than every third night averaged over a four (4) week period. (b) Call from home (at-home call) is defined as call taken from outside the Hospital. The frequency of call from home (at-home call) is not subject to the every third night limitation, but must satisfy the requirement of one-day-in-seven free of duty (when averaged over a four- week period). Residents are permitted to return to the Hospital while on call from home (at-home call) to care for new or established patients. Each episode of this type of care, while it must be included in the 80 hour weekly maximum, will not initiate a new “off-duty period.” When House Officers are called into the Hospital from home, the hours spent in the Hospital count toward the 80 hour limit.
