Organisational change (Xxxxxxxxx) Sample Clauses

Organisational change (Xxxxxxxxx). We will collaborate with business partners with whom we have established links, to trial opportunities for change in system processes and employee activities, and evaluate the drivers, barriers and impacts of these changes. This research is embedded in social theories of economic action65, with a specific focus on stakeholder involvement in changing organisational norms, this being the most effective route to achieving transformative impact in a firm66. With our partners Anglian Water and Wates Group (a major construction company), we will focus on how changing norms and practices are linked to materials use and consumption within supply chains. This provides us with an opportunity to consider how firms can advance climate change mitigation through their organisational processes, policies, and activities. With these partners, we will consider the co-benefits of climate mitigation action, in terms of the long-term resilience of water supplies (Anglian Water), and in relation to efficiency in home heating systems (Wates). Our research with Surple, a software start-up specialising in behaviour change through visualisation of energy use, will also consider how new technologies and employee capabilities can evolve in ways that reduce organisations’ carbon emissions. We will adopt an action research approach67, entailing ongoing engagement with staff and reciprocity between research aims and organisational practices. We will draw on participant interviews, organisational documentation and data, and longitudinal surveys carried out within implementation teams, to map change over time. Two linked PhD projects will work with the ESRC Network Plus to identify further organisations to work with, to apply and develop these approaches across the challenging areas.
