Organization Security. 6.1 The City shall deduct from their wages the regular membership dues of employees who are members of the Organization and who individually and voluntarily authorize such deductions in writing in accordance with the provisions of Section 1157.3 of the Government Code of the State of California. 6.2 Deductions shall be made from the first payroll period of each month and a check for the total deductions shall be submitted to the Treasurer of the Organization within five (5) working days of the date the dues are withheld from the employee’s check or by Electronic Fund Transfer to a bank designated by the Organization. In addition, the Organization shall refund to the City any amounts paid to it in error upon presentation of supporting evidence. 6.6 In the event that any provision of this article is declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be illegal or unenforceable, the parties agree that the City will cease abiding by such provisions.
