Organizational Activities. Except to the extent that there is contained in this Agreement an express and specific provision to the contrary, employees shall have, and be protected in the exercise of, the rights, freely and without fear of penalty of reprisal; to form, join or assist employee organization; to act in the capacity of the Union Representative; to engage in other lawful Union and concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual aid or protection; and to refrain from any or all such activities. In the exercise of such rights, the employees shall be free from any and all interference, restraint or coercing from any discrimination and without regard to whether or not an employee is a member of the Union.

The Employer shall grant paid leave to any bargaining unit member who is elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the MSEA-SEIU, the Executive Board of the International Union, or delegate to a Convention ofMSEA-SEIU or the Service Employees International Union, such leave not to exceed four working days per calendar year. b. The Employer shall grant up to four (4) years unpaid leave of absence to any bargaining unit member elected to a full-time position with the union or its affiliates without loss of seniority. c. The Employer shall grant two (2) working days per calendar year for each Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, to attend union approved education and training programs. d. Union members who are part of the negotiation team will be allowed reasonable time off, without loss of pay, to represent the union in negotiation sessions scheduled with the county concerning the collective bargaining agreement.
Organizational Activities. PG&D credit is available for organizational and/or committee work which is not otherwise compensated by either assigned time or stipend and is not being counted as part of the faculty members required institutional responsibilities. Applicants for PG&D may apply for such credit retroactively for work done within the immediate three (3) years preceding the application. A maximum of two (2) units may be earned for organizational activities per growth step. One (1) unit of credit maybe earned for chairing a major college committee for one year in which no release time or remuneration is given. Examples would include, but not be limited to, chair of a program review committee, chair of any faculty or administrative hiring committee, or chair of a contract faculty appraisal team. One‐half (0.5) units of credit may be earned for service such as Academic Senate Vice President, Student Club Advisor, Faculty Mentor, or Accreditation Standard committee chair. Major college committees include, but are not restricted to, PG&D, Sabbatical Leave, Performance Goals, Curriculum, Accreditation Standard and Academic Senate. Chairing or being a member of, and playing a substantial role in the work of, other committees may be individually approved by the PG&D Committee if the time and level of commitment by the applicant is equivalent to the committees described above. Regular members who undertake a substantial portion of the work activities of a committee, task force, or other college/district group or who are presenters at conferences or workshops may be eligible to receive Professional Growth and Development credit for this work. The work (committee or other) must be substantial, must be done outside of regular committee meetings, must be described in the application for PG&D credit and verified by the chair of the committee (or other appropriate person). It must be composed of at least 24 hours of work for each 0.5 units of PG&D credit sought. Eligibility for this PG&D credit requires attendance at any related workshops or training sessions, when available, during flex days or at other designated times. However, workshop credit may count toward independent flex day credit to meet their obligations if approved per Article 16.3 or toward fulfilling the PG&D educational component but not both. The UNION agrees that it shall represent the interest of all employees without discrimination and without regard to whether or not an employee is a member of the UNION.

  • Professional Activities a. The presentation of a scholarly paper or other original professional material relevant to the faculty member’s present field of employment at a conference, workshop, seminar or gallery showing, which shows evident research and is not merely extemporaneous in nature, may earn 0.5 to one (1) units depending upon scope. b. Holding a position of leadership on the association’s Executive Board or the Academic Senate or being chair or co-chair of District councils or committees for three (3) or more consecutive years may earn one (1) to three (3) units for each year.

  • Additional Activities I agree that during the period of my employment by the Company I will not, without the Company's express written consent, engage in any employment or business activity which is competitive with, or would otherwise conflict with, my employment by the Company. I agree further that for the period of my employment by the Company and for one (l) year after the date of termination of my employment by the Company I will not induce any employee of the Company to leave the employ of the Company.

  • Outside Professional Activities 21.01 Outside professional activities may enhance the reputation of the University and the professional, scholarly and scientific competence of the ASM. ASMs are encouraged to involve themselves with the community outside the University in applying their professional skills and knowledge. This Article applies only to outside professional activities that involve the application of special skills and knowledge within the ASM's particular academic competence. An ASM may engage in such activities subject to the following conditions: (a) Such activities shall not hinder the fulfillment of the ASM’s obligations to the University, including scholarly work, and the undertaking of a fair share of academic administration. (b) Outside professional activities shall not require the commitment of a block of time which might interfere with the ASM’s normal timetable for teaching activities. 21.02 An ASM shall, upon written request, make available to his or her Administrative Head information on the nature and scope of paid outside professional activities. 21.03 When outside professional activities would involve the use of University supplies, facilities, employees, or services, such use shall be subject to the prior written approval of the Administrative Head. The request for approval shall include information on the nature and scope of the outside professional activities for which support is requested. If approval is granted, the charges for such equipment, supplies, facilities, employees or services shall be at the prevailing rates unless the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ & Vice-President (Academic) agrees, in writing, to waive all or part of the charges. When engaging in outside professional activities, the ASM shall ensure that he or she does not represent himself or herself as acting on behalf of the University. The University will assume no liability for any action brought against an ASM as a result of outside professional activities. 21.04 The name of the University shall not be used in any outside professional activity unless agreed, in writing, by the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ & Vice-President (Academic), although nothing shall prevent the ASM from stating the nature and place of his or her employment, rank and title, in connection with outside professional activities, provided that he or she shall not purport to represent the University or speak for it, or to have its approval unless that approval has been given in writing. 21.05 The provisions of this Article shall apply to ASM-CFEs mutatis mutandis.
