Common use of Overtime on a Regular Work Day Clause in Contracts

Overtime on a Regular Work Day. Employees who work overtime shall be compensated at a rate of 1.5 times the employees' regular hourly rate of pay. Except for Public Safety Officers or employees on approved alternate work schedules pursuant to 5.1.3 through 5.1.5, overtime shall be defined as more than seven and one-half hours in a day or thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hours in a week. Employees who work more than twelve (12) hours during any twenty-four (24) hour period shall be entitled to compensation at the rate of 2.0 times the employees' regular rate of pay for any time worked in excess of twelve (12) hours. Overtime must be approved in advance by the appropriate supervisor.
