– PAID HOLIDAYS – FULL-TIME. 15.1 The following shall be recognized as paid holidays with respect to full-time nurses: New Year's Day Civic Holiday Family Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Easter Monday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day 15.2 In order to qualify for payment for specified holidays, nurses must work their scheduled working day immediately prior to and following the holiday except in the following circumstances; where absence on either or both of the said qualifying working day is with prior written permission or due to illness verified by doctor's certificate. For the purpose of this clause a paid absence shall be treated as time worked. 15.2 Christmas Day Family Day It is understood and agreed that in order to be eligible for such holiday with pay the employee must otherwise qualify in accordance with the following provisions, or as mutually agreed by Manager and employee. Each employee shall be entitled to one (1) additional holiday with pay. Such holiday to be a float day. Such day to be scheduled by mutual agreement between the employee and the department head. Employees who have not completed their probationary period shall nevertheless be eligible to receive holiday pay for the above-mentioned holidays which fall during such period providing they first successfully complete their probationary period and further providing they would have otherwise qualified in accordance with the following provisions. Holiday pay will be computed on the basis of the number of hours the employee would otherwise work had there been no holiday, at this regular rate of pay. In order to qualify for payment for specified holidaysholiday pay, nurses the employee must work their the full scheduled working day shift immediately prior to preceding and immediately following the holiday. If, however, an employee's absence during the full scheduled shift immediately preceding or immediately following the holiday except is due to illness, the employee will be entitled to holiday pay, but only in respect to a maximum of two (2) holidays during any one such illness. It is further understood that the following circumstances; where Hospital may require a medical certificate confirming such illness. Payment made under this section will be considered statutory holiday pay and such day shall not be considered absence on either or both of the said qualifying working day is with prior written permission or due to illness verified by doctor's certificate. For for the purpose of this clause a paid absence shall be treated as time worked.
