Common use of Paid Jury or Court Witness Duty Clause in Contracts

Paid Jury or Court Witness Duty. The Employer shall grant leave of absence without loss of seniority benefits to an employee who serves as juror or witness in any court or who is required by subpoena to attend a court of law or coroner’s inquest. The Employer shall pay such employee the difference between normal earnings and the payment received from jury service or court witness, excluding payment for traveling, meals, or other expenses. The employee will present proof of service and the amount received. Time spent by an employee required to appear before any government body, or who is subpoenaed to attend a coroner’s inquest or who is required to serve as a court witness in any matter arising out of their employment shall be considered as time worked at the appropriate rate of pay.
