Common use of Paid Leave for Union Training Clause in Contracts

Paid Leave for Union Training. (a) The Employer shall grant paid leave of absence to employees who are nominated by their Union to attend short courses conducted by the Union. (b) Paid leave of absence shall also be granted to attend similar courses or seminars as from time to time approved by agreement between the parties. (c) An employee shall be granted up to six (6) days paid leave each calendar year for Union training or similar courses or seminars. However, leave in excess of six days, and up to twelve days, may be granted in any one calendar year, provided that the total leave being granted in that year and in the subsequent year does not exceed twelve (12) days. (d) Country delegates will be paid travel time during normal working hours at the ordinary rate of pay to attend such training.
