Leave for Union Business. The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence, without pay, to nurses selected by the Union to attend Union business including conferences, conventions and Provincial Committee meetings and to any nurse elected to the position of Local Co-ordinator. The cumulative total leave of absence, the amount of notice, the number of nurses that may be absent at any time from one area and the number of days (including those of the Local Co-ordinator) is set out in the Appendix of Local Provisions. During such leave of absence, a nurse's salary and applicable benefits or percentage in lieu of fringe benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital and the local Union agrees to reimburse the Hospital in the amount of the daily rate of the full-time nurse or in the amount of the full cost of such salary and percentage in lieu of fringe benefits of a part-time nurse except for Provincial Committee meetings which will be reimbursed by the Union. The Hospital will xxxx the local Union within a reasonable period of time. Part-time nurses will receive service and seniority credit for all leaves granted under this Article.
Leave for Union Business. The maximum number of Central Negotiating Team members entitled to payment under this provision shall be ten (10), and in no case will more than one (1) full-time nurse and one (1) part-time nurse from a hospital be entitled to such payment. The Union shall advise the Hospitals’ Central Negotiating Committee as far in advance as possible, of the names of the nurses to be paid under this provision. The Hospitals’ Central Negotiating Committee will make such request known to the affected hospitals. For any unpaid leave of absence under this provision, a full-time nurse's salary and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital, and the Union agrees to reimburse the Hospital in the amount of the full cost of such salary. For any unpaid leave of absence under this provision, a part-time nurse's salary and percentage in lieu of fringe benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital, and the Union agrees to reimburse the Hospital in the amount of the full cost of such salary and percentage in lieu of fringe benefits. Part-time nurses will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave.
Leave for Union Business. 1. a. Any union member shall be entitled to a leave of absence with pay as authorized by the local union or BCTF and shall be deemed to be in the full employ of the board.
Leave for Union Business. (a) The Corporation agrees to grant leave of absence without loss of seniority for Union business to not more than two (2) Employees from each division, on any one day(s), selected by the Union to attend conventions, conferences or training. It is understood however, that the cumulative total of leave of absence granted under this section shall not exceed thirty (30) days in any calendar year and that request for such leaves of absence shall be made in writing at least two (2) weeks in advance of such leave. The Corporation agrees to confirm or deny the request for such leave of absence within five (5) days of receipt of the request. It is understood by the parties that less than two (2) weeks’ notice may be accepted in exceptional circumstances. In addition to the above, each member of the Union negotiating committee shall be allowed two (2) days leave of absence with pay to prepare for negotiations. It is agreed and understood by the parties that the Corporation shall invoice the Union and the Union shall forthwith provide full reimbursement to the Corporation.
(b) Where an Employee who is elected or appointed to a full-time or part-time office, or employment with CUPE Local 905 or CUPE National or CUPE Ontario, the Corporation will consider a request for an extended leave of absence for such Employee and the Corporation may grant such leave of absence. Such leave shall not be unreasonably denied. The Corporation shall pay the Employee’s wages and benefits during such leave, and may be required to top up the salary/Grade/level, to that which is assigned by the 905 Executive Board. However, it is agreed and understood by the parties that the Employer shall invoice the Union and Union shall forthwith provide full reimbursement to the Corporation.
(c) Upon thirty (30) days written notice, the Employee shall be returned to their former position or to a position comparable to which they were employed before taking office. It is understood the Corporation may fill the position with a temporary Employee for the length of the leave.
Leave for Union Business. Representatives of the Union shall not suffer any loss of pay when required to leave their employment temporarily in order to carry on discussions or negotiations with the Employer, or with respect to a grievance or an interest or rights arbitration hearing provided that employees shall be required to obtain the permission of the Employer before leaving their employment.
Leave for Union Business. The Company shall grant an employee a leave of absence of not more than three (3) years to work in an official capacity for the Local or International Union. The employee must request the leave in writing and the Union must approve it. This leave may be extended for additional three (3) year periods by mutual agreement.
Leave for Union Business. (a) The Employer agrees to grant leave of absence, without pay, to a maximum of one (1) Nurse at any one time, selected by the Union to attend Union business including conferences and conventions. The number of days in a calendar year shall not exceed ten (10) working days for the bargaining unit. During such leave of absence, the Nurse's salary and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Employer and the local Union agrees to reimburse the Employer in the amount of the full cost of such salary and applicable benefits.
Leave for Union Business. The parties agree that Employees require leave from time to time in order to conduct the business of the union. Upon request, including appropriate notice as identified below and except under exceptional circumstances (eg: Acts of God, Disasters, etc.) Executive Council members, Board of Governors, Finance Committee members, and Negotiating Committee members, shall be granted leave of absence for union business. Other members requesting union leave will not be denied provided the leave does not unreasonably interfere with the operational requirements of the Employer. Except under extenuating circumstances: - any request for such leave will be made at least 72 hours in advance; - for a leave in excess of 14 days, the Employee will give at least 14 days prior notice; - where leave is for regularly scheduled meetings, the Employee will notify the Employer as soon as she is aware of the dates.
(a) The Employer agrees to continue to pay normal salary and benefits to the Employees allocated on a short term basis of thirty one (31) calendar days or less to attend to union business and that the Employer is to charge the union for reimbursement of the cost. Such costs shall only include:
(i) Actual lost wages;
(ii) Employer's share of Canada Pension contributions;
(iii) Employer's share of Employment Insurance premiums;
(iv) Employer's share of SHEPP contributions or equivalent;
(v) Employer's share of Group Insurance premiums;
(vi) Employer's share of Disability Income contributions;
(vii) Workers' Compensation premiums; and
(viii) Employer’s share of Extended Health and Enhanced Dental Premiums
(b) On leaves of absence of more than thirty one (31) calendar days, and at the request of the union, the Employer agrees to pay normal salary and benefits to an Employee, and will charge the union, in addition to those costs set forth above, an appropriate amount for the following benefits:
(i) annual vacation;
(ii) sick leave;
(iii) public holiday; and
(iv) core dental plan premiums.
Leave for Union Business. Leave of absence without pay to attend Union business will be granted. The total of such days shall not exceed fifty (50) days per annum and no more than four (4) Nurses shall be absent from duty at any one time. During such leave of absence, the Nurses' salary and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Employer and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer in the amount of the full cost of such salary and applicable benefits. The Employer shall respond to requests for Union leave within three business days of the receipt of the request. 65 days for Toronto/York, Peel only
Leave for Union Business. The Employer shall grant reasonable leaves of absence with pay to representatives of the Union from within the bargaining unit elected or appointed by the membership to a maximum total of two hundred and ten (210) working days in a calendar year. Individual use of such leave shall be capped at 30 days and applications for such leave shall be submitted in a businesslike and timely fashion. The individual cap may be exceeded at the discretion of the Employer upon application from the President. This leave relates solely to the affairs of the Union. Leave to attend at grievance hearings will not be included in the above-mentioned totals.
