Pay for Work in Higher Classification. When an employee in a permanent position in the merit system is required to work in a classification for which the compensation is greater than that to which the employee is regularly assigned, the employee shall receive compensation for such work at the rate of pay established for the higher classification pursuant to Subsection 5.9 - Salary on Promotion of this Memorandum, at the start of the second full day in the assignment, under the following conditions.
