Common use of PAYMENT FOR STATUTORY HOLIDAY Clause in Contracts

PAYMENT FOR STATUTORY HOLIDAY. (a) Employees who are eligible for Statutory Holiday pay will receive pay for the Statutory Holiday whether or not they work on the Statutory Holiday. The designated Statutory Holidays shall be: New Year’s Day Labour Day Family Day Thanksgiving Day Good Friday Remembrance Day Victoria Day December 24 Canada Day Christmas Day BC Day (b) Two bona fide religious holidays may be exchanged for the two (2) Christian holidays provided sufficient notice is supplied to the Employer and provided the employee is scheduled to work on the day in question. (c) An employee who works on a Statutory Holiday, shall be paid one and one-half (1½ x) times their normal wage rate for any hours worked, up to eleven (11) hours and double time (2 x) for any hours worked over eleven (11) hours, in addition to a day’s pay in following with Clause 16.03. (d) If a statutory holiday falls on a non-working day for an employee, the employee shall be entitled to a day’s pay, in following with Clause 16.03.
