Common use of Physical/Mental Fitness Clause in Contracts

Physical/Mental Fitness. It shall be the responsibility of each employee to maintain the standards of physical and mental fitness required for performing his/her job. Whenever the Fire Chief has just cause to suspect that the physical or mental condition of an employee is endangering his/her own health or the safety of fellow workers, the employee may be directed to submit to an examination by a physician without expense to the employee which shall only be for the purpose of determining his/her fitness for duty relative to City employment.
