Plant varieties. 1. The EC Party and the Signatory CARIFORUM States shall have the right to provide for exceptions to exclusive rights granted to plant breeders to allow farmers to save, use and exchange protected farm-saved seed or propagating material.
Plant varieties. The European Union reaffirms its commitment to the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (the UPOV Convention), to which the Republic of Kazakhstan shall make reasonable efforts to accede.

The Parties shall protect plant varieties rights, in accordance with the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants including the optional exception to the breeder's right as referred to in Article 15(2) of the said Convention, and shall cooperate to promote and enforce those rights.

The Parties shall co-operate to promote and guarantee the protection of plant varieties based on the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV), as revised on March 19, 1991, including the optional exception to the breeder's right as referred to in Article 15(2) of the said Convention.

The protection of intellectual property includes protection against unfair competition as referred to in Article 10bis of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property of 20 March 1883, as last revised at Stockholm on 14 July 1967 (hereinafter referred to as "the Paris Convention").
