Political. An unpaid leave of absence not to exceed two (2) years shall be granted upon application for the purpose of campaigning for or serving in a public office. Upon return from such leave, an employee shall be placed in the same position on the salary schedule he/she held when the leave commenced with one step advancement on the salary schedule.
