Probationary Period and Status. A. A person employed to fill a regular part-time or full-time position shall be appointed to that position on probationary status for a period of six months. The probationary period may be extended, in unusual circumstances, in increments of up to forty (40) days to a maximum of sixty (60) days to allow for additional training and experience. Such an extension shall be provided upon a written recommendation of the supervisor and signed approval by the employee and the Executive Director of Employee Relations. B. Except for the dismissal provision in paragraph C, a probationary employee is entitled to all benefits provided to a regular employee including the right to become or not to become a member of LESPA.
