Any unit member requesting to attend any conference, convention, or meeting may be absent for such purpose without loss of pay, if such attendance is in the interest of the District and within the scope of the unit member’s area of employment. All requests by teachers must be on the approved District form and submitted in advance for approval by the Building Principal. Requests to attend conferences, conventions, or meetings should be made as early as possible inasmuch as consideration will be given to the date such request is made. If attendance at a conference, meeting or other professional development event is a directive of the administration and not the voluntary request of a unit member, the administration shall pre-approve the cost of transportation, parking, lodging, meals and registration. Unit member shall provide all itemized receipts.
