Common use of PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Clause in Contracts

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/SAFETY EQUIPMENT. 2.1 Employees (other than casual Employees) will be issued with: (i) clear protective safety glasses, and for Employees engaged in outdoor activities, also dark protective safety glasses; (ii) standard construction safety helmet; (iii) overalls, or trousers and shirt where applicable; and (iv) standard safety boots with steel capped toes (after 3 months continuous service). 2.2 Safety boots will be replaced annually on the basis of fair wear and tear. The boots must be presented to the Company for examination when a replacement is requested. Upon commencement, new Employees (other than casual Employees) will be provided with pool stock overalls (if new overalls are not in stock). Sized overalls will be provided 2 weeks from order to Employees (other than casual Employees) who are initially provided with pool stock. Casual Employees will be provided with pool stock overalls for the duration of their engagement with the Company. 2.3 Company issued clothes will be cleaned and maintained by the Company. 2.4 After twelve (12) months’ continuous service, the Company will provide each Employee, free of charge, with a Bluey Jacket. These jackets will be the property of the Employee and the Employee will be responsible for their cleanliness and upkeep. The Company will replace the garment on the basis of fair wear and tear. The jacket must be produced to the Company for examination when a replacement is requested.
