Afternoon and Night Shift. Shift work refers to hours of work which are outside of the ordinary span of hours. The ordinary hours of shift work shall average 38 hours per week. Afternoon shift are hours finishing after 6.30 pm and at/or before 12.30am. Night shift is any shift finishing after 12.30am and before 8.30 am.
Afternoon and Night Shift. An employee working afternoon or night shift shall be paid a loading of 15% additional to the ordinary rate of pay for that employee for the whole of that shift.
Afternoon and Night Shift. The following shift allowances will apply for Variable Shift Workers:
(i) An Employee whilst on Afternoon or Night Shift shall be paid for such shift 15 per cent more than his or her ordinary rate.
(ii) An Employee who works on an Afternoon or Night Shift which does not continue:
(a) for at least five successive afternoon or night shifts or six successive afternoon or night shifts in a six day workshop, (where no more than 7.6 ordinary hours are worked on each shift); or
(b) for at least 38 ordinary hours (where more than 7.6 ordinary hours are worked on each shift); shall be paid time and a half for the first two hours and double time for the remainder of the shift.
(iii) An Employee who:
(a) during a period of engagement on shift, works Night Shift only; or
(b) remains on Night Shift for a longer period than four consecutive weeks; or
(c) Works on a Night Shift which does not rotate or alternate with another shift or with day work so as to give him or her at least one third of his or her working time off Night Shift in each shift cycle; shall, during such engagement, period or cycle, be paid 30 per cent more than his or her ordinary rate for all time worked during ordinary working hours on such night shift.
(iv) The minimum rate to be paid to a shift worker for work performed between midnight on Friday and midnight on Saturday shall be time and a half. This extra rate is in substitution for and not cumulative upon the shift premiums prescribed in clauses 11.4(i),(ii) and (iii) of this Part 3.
(v) Rate for Working on Sunday and Public Holiday Shifts The rate at which Variable Shift Workers are to be paid for all time worked on a Sunday or public holiday is as follows:
(a) Sundays - at the rate of double time;
(b) Public Holidays - at the rate of double time and a half. Where shifts commence between 11.00pm and midnight on a Sunday or public holiday, the time so worked before midnight does not entitle the Employee to the Sunday or public holiday rate for the shift. However, the time worked by an Employee on a shift commencing before midnight on the day preceding a Sunday or public holiday and extending into the Sunday or public holiday shall be regarded as time worked on the Sunday or public holiday. Where shifts fall partly on a holiday, the shift which has the major portion falling on the public holiday shall be regarded as the holiday shift. Afternoon and Night Shift. For the purposes of this clause: • "Afternoon shift" means a shift commencing after 2.00pm and not later than 10.30 p.m.;
Afternoon and Night Shift. Where an afternoon and/or night shift is in operation, wherever possible, the Company will schedule employees to the afternoon or night shift on a seniority preference basis, subject always to the Company’s rights to assign employees having the qualifications, skill and ability for the work requirements of the afternoon and/or night shift.
Afternoon and Night Shift a) The ordinary hours of work for an afternoon shift worker or night shift worker shall be an average of 38 hours per week over the roster cycle.
b) The ordinary hours of work shall include two 20 minute paid meal breaks each shift.
c) Afternoon shift means any shift finishing after 6:00pm and at or before midnight. The span of hours over which shifts may be worked may be altered by up to one
(1) hour at either end of the span by agreement between DSI Underground and the majority of employees concerned.
d) Any work completed outside the agreed pattern of hours shall be paid at time and a half for the first three (3) hours and double time thereafter. Meal breaks during overtime will be paid at overtime rates.
Afternoon and Night Shift a) An employee who is required to work on Afternoon Shift as defined, shall be paid at a rate of 20% greater than the ordinary rate.
b) An employee who is required to work on Night Shift as defined, shall be paid at a rate of 30% greater than the ordinary rate.
c) A shift worker who works on afternoon or night shift, which does not continue:
i. for at least 5 successive afternoons or nights in a 5 day workshop, OR 6 successive afternoons or nights in a 6 day workshop, or ii. for at least the number of ordinary hours prescribed by one of the alternative arrangements in subclauses 17.6 and 17.7; shall be paid for each such shift 50% for the first 3 hours and 100% for the remaining hours in addition to his/her ordinary rate.
d) An employee who:
i. during a period of engagement on shift, works night shift only, or ii. remains on night shift for a longer period than four consecutive weeks, or
iii. works on a night shift which does not rotate or alternate with another shift or with day work so to provide at least one-third of the working time off night shift in each shift cycle; shall during such engagement period or cycle be paid 30% more than the ordinary rate for all time worked during ordinary working hours on such night shift.
e) All employees who are required to work on Afternoon or Night shift will receive a 30 minute meal break without losing pay for time not worked.
Afternoon and Night Shift.
5.3.1 Employees who work an afternoon shift or night shift, as defined, will be paid an additional penalty rate for each such shift as follows in addition to their Base Rate of Pay: Afternoon Shift – 12.5% of the Base Rate of Pay; and Night Shift – 15% of the Base Rate of Pay:
5.3.2 Afternoon shift means a shift, other than a night shift, the ordinary hours of which commences at or after 12 midday.
5.3.3 Night shift means any shift commencing at or after 6pm or before 7.30am, the majority of which is worked between 6pm and 7.30am.
5.3.4 A casual Employee will receive the casual loading in clause 3.4.2 in addition to the penalty rates in clause 5.3.1 for working an Afternoon Shift or Night Shift.
5.3.5 The shift penalties in this clause do not apply to work performed on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays where extra payments apply for such work.
Afternoon and Night Shift. 22.1 A 15% shift loading will be paid for shifts that commence at or after 3pm and finish at or before 12 midnight.
22.2 A 15% shift loading will be paid for shifts that commence at or after 10pm and finish before 6am.
Afternoon and Night Shift. An allowance of 15% more than the ordinary rates will be payable for rotating afternoon and night shift. Shift allowance does not apply to day shift.
