Protective Devices. a. Loads connected to a service shall have sufficient protective devices, installed and maintained at the customer's expense, to prevent damage to equipment during routine conditions that may include sudden loss of voltage, sudden re-energization, opening of one or more phases, and voltage or current fluctuations or variations.
