Reasons for Taking Leave. A leave request from an eligible employee must be granted for any of the following reasons: 16.10.2.1 Birth of the employee’s child; 16.10.2.2 Placement of a child with the employee for adoption or xxxxxx care; 16.10.2.3 Care for the employee's child, spouse, or parent with a serious health condition; 16.10.2.4 The employee’s own serious health condition that keeps the employee’s own job function from being performed; 16.10.2.5 A qualifying exigency arising from the foreign deployment of the employee’s spouse, son, daughter, or parent with the Armed Forces (“qualified exigency”); 16.10.2.6 To care for a servicemember with a serious injury or illness if the employee is the servicemember’s spouse, son, daughter, parent or next of kin (“military caregiver”).
