Common use of Rehire Rights Clause in Contracts

Rehire Rights. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Agreement, a regular employee who has been laid off for lack of work or economic reasons pursuant to the provisions of this Agreement, for a period not in excess of eighteen (18) months and who had one (1) or more years of service at the time of layoff shall be entitled to preferential rehire on the basis of Company seniority at the time of layoff. All jobs will be posted and filled, if possible, through the internal bidding process prior to rehiring laid off employees.
